OVERVIEW
Messaging API overview
Send free-form, category-tagged messages to individual ChatX users from your own backend - no template approval step.
How it works
Your backend calls the Messaging API with a developer-app token scoped to one category. ChatX validates the token's scope, checks the category's follower and opt-in rules, renders the message, and delivers it into the recipient's chat with your business - the same conversation they'd see if you messaged them by hand. The response reports the resulting message id and status; a repeated request with the same Idempotency-Key returns that same result instead of sending again.
What you can send
- Authentication - one-time passcodes and login codes, structured as body, footer, and an OTP button. No follower relationship required.
- Utility - requested updates such as order, payment, or delivery status, as plain text. Requires an active follower.
- Marketing - promotions and offers, as plain text or structured content with a header, buttons, or a carousel. Requires an active, opted-in follower.
- Service - free-form replies to a customer who already follows you. Not a send category - a separate, follower-scoped conversation endpoint.
